Multi-Functional Kiosk for Quick-Step Brand

Multi-functional kiosk built for Quick-Step, combining digital display, product testing, and education to enhance customer engagement in flooring stores.

Project: Multi-Functional Kiosk for Quick-Step Brand

Objective

Premium Floors commissioned us to design a multi-functional, attention-grabbing kiosk that would serve as a central display and interactive area for their Quick-Step brand in retail flooring stores. The unit needed to be free-standing, highly engaging, and versatile enough to facilitate customer interaction and product education.

The initial design began as a desk-style kiosk with open sides, allowing chairs to be positioned underneath so that store staff could sit and discuss options with customers. As the concept evolved, the design transitioned into a taller, stand-up configuration with openings for stools, creating a more approachable and communal experience.

Key Features

Objective Sub heading for styling

  • Interactive Touchscreen

A 32-inch interactive touch screen, mounted on a swivel arm, serves as the focal point. This screen provides access to the Quick-Step website, functioning as both a virtual salesperson and an assisting tool for staff.

  • Lightbox Display

Positioned opposite the touchscreen, the lightbox creates visual balance and offers the option for a future upgrade to include a second screen.

  • Educational Demonstration Pods

To highlight Quick-Step’s product advantages, the kiosk integrates custom-built Pods designed for hands-on interaction. Initially, eight Pods were planned, later refined to five key demonstration Pods. Examples of these pods are:

    • Scratch Resistance: Users compared Quick-Step planks against competitor products using a scouring pad.
    • Ease of Cleaning: Customers tested stain removal using acetone and a permanent marker on both Quick-Step and a competitor sample.
    • Watertight Test: A clear acrylic tube filled with water demonstrated the product’s ability to prevent leaks.
  • Product Display Integration

The final kiosk design included a tabletop display featuring a wide range of Quick-Step flooring samples, complemented by the rotating central podium that showcased the Pods.

Outcome

The completed Quick-Step Halo Unit successfully delivered a central, interactive hub that combined digital engagement, physical product interaction, and educational experiences, making it an effective sales and marketing tool within retail environments.
